You Go Girl!

Local Weight Loss Success Story Featured in National Women’s Magazine

“When you are overweight, you have a lifestyle that supports being overweight. And, when you are healthy, you have a lifestyle that supports being healthy.” — Flossie Alexander

Meet Flossie Alexander from Wichita, Kansas. She is a mother of seven, and after losing 165 pounds, is nearly half the woman she used to be—literally. Her incredible weight loss journey recently caught the attention of the editors of the national magazine, First for Women, and she was chosen from numerous submissions from around the country, as one of their feature weight loss success stories in their March 22, 2010 issue.

Not only did Flossie successfully win the battle of the bulge, but she won the war, as well: She has kept off the weight for over three years! For those of you that have struggled to lose weight for what has seemed like a lifetime, Flossie’s story will inspire and motivate you. The transformation she made in her own life motivated her so much, that she decided to devote her life to helping others struggling with weight loss, by starting her own weight loss and life coaching business. She is now the owner and founder of YOU CAN NOW! Coaching Weight Loss Solutions, L.L.C., and loving it. Flossie said, “As I began my own weight loss journey, I began to find the answers for myself and discovered a process for creating a healthier lifestyle that changed my mind, my body and my life. I have taken what I’ve learned and gained the expertise to successfully share it with others.”

Flossie’s struggle with obesity sounds familiar to many of us. “I had battled weight issues all my life until I finally said “enough” and educated myself and overcame the constant ups and downs you get with yo-yo dieting,” Flossy explained. The physical problems Flossie began to experience because of her weight were big motivating factors and created a turning point in her life. She explains, “During my heaviest weight, I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and was on the cusp of having full-blown diabetes mellitus. I struggled to walk more than 10 feet and was looking at knee replacement surgery by the age of 40 if I had chosen to continue down the path obesity was leading me. My health became a priority for me, which meant I had to lose the weight and lose it now!”

Flossie shared with us, her top tips for weight loss and maintenance:

*It might seem funny that my best advice for maintaining your weight loss has almost the same keys as those for losing weight. It is easy to understand when you realize that when you are overweight, you have a lifestyle that supports being overweight. And, when you are healthy, you have a lifestyle that supports being healthy.
